We get these questions often: What fish are only found in Georgia? What fish is popular in Georgia? What is the fishing capital of Georgia? Well, Georgia is home to various freshwater and saltwater fish species. Some notable ones include the Chattahoochee bass, Suwannee bass, and shoal bass, which are unique to Georgia's freshwater ecosystems. Meanwhile, popular saltwater catches in coastal Georgia include redfish, spotted seatrout, and flounder.

As for the fishing capital of Georgia, it's widely recognized that places like Savannah and St. Simons Island are renowned for their excellent fishing opportunities, drawing anglers from far and wide. While there isn't a designated official fishing capital, these areas are celebrated for their diverse marine life and thriving fishing scene.

Sapelo Sound Fishing Report on 17th Feb, 2024

We went in search of redfish in the creeks and boy did we find them. We sat on the first drop and caught 40+ redfish in the matter of 30 minutes. The client decided he wanted to push into the shallow creeks and sight cast for the big girls and we ended up catching 8 or so big reds by sight fishing. It was an epic day of fishing!

Cape May - Chatham, GA Fishing Report on 2nd Jan, 2024

Matt, Jennifer and Stone came down to the coast for New Years and wanted to get on some reds. The 35 degree air and 55 degree water temp slowed the bite down a little but it was steady all morning. The big pigs were out in full force too! #bigredsfishingcharters #inshorefishing #georgiacoast
